The challenge is to ensure that digital technology becomes a stepping stone to create a more sustainable, inclusive and secure society. In the Digital Society Center, this goal is achieved both by performing advanced research in key areas such as AI, Big Data, IoT, and by exploiting living labs and partnerships with companies to experiment innovative solutions able to meet key societal challenges. The center is composed of a multidisciplinary team of 80 researchers, technologists and managers (including PhD students) organized in 7 research units dedicated to specific research areas in the ICT domain and in 2 support units focusing on project management and on software development & technology maturation. The Digital Society Center has a vast experience in collaborative research, currently participating in more than 40 European and national projects and coordinating 5 of them.

The position is opened by the Complex Human Behaviour Lab (CHuB, https://chub.fbk.eu), an interdisciplinary research unit lead by Dr. Riccardo Gallotti carrying out fundamental and applied research informed by the statistical analysis of large behavioral datasets and aimed at modeling individual behavior and collective social phenomena using the methods of complexity science, computational social science, and network theory. The topics covered within the unit range from individual decisions, human mobility and transportation to online communication, cultural production and infodemics.
