Internship in Blockchain for developing new types of decentralized applications

The Foundation is looking for a proactive and dynamic young candidate with good organizational and relational skills and an inclination for teamwork, strongly motivated to work on innovative projects featuring strong technological components.

We can offer an important training opportunity to experiment with using blockchain as a core technology for developing new types of decentralized applications. From a software-engineering perspective, blockchain applications present inherent challenges as they have very specific life cycles and introduce unique constraints and characteristics. However, despite the growing interest in blockchain technology, its adoption is still in the early stages, particularly regarding user interfaces for mobile and web applications. Given these challenges, the OpenioT research group proposes developing easy-to-use user interfaces for web and mobile applications that support existing blockchain-based systems.

The final goal of the internship is
  • Analysis of the state-of-the-art libraries for developing blockchain-based applications in web and mobile environments.
  • Review of open-source libraries for developing user interfaces of blockchain-based applications for Ethereum and Hyperledger Sawtooth.
  • Integration and adaptation of open-source libraries for existing blockchain-based systems using Ethereum and Hyperledger Sawtooth.
  • Evaluation and testing of user interfaces for Ethereum and Hyperledger Sawtooth.

Requirements:
  • Ongoing Academic background in science and engineering fields (e.g., industrial automation, control systems and simulation, physics, math, computer science, computer engineering)
  • Knowledge of basic concepts of blockchain technology.
  • Knowledge of software development in JavaScript (nice-to-have experience with React JS).
  • Experience with distributed version control systems (git).
  • Experience in a web development environment.
  • Nice-To-Have experience in programming languages for interacting with Ethereum (JavaScript and/or Python).
  • Motivation in the development of research activities.

We offer:
  • Curricular internship (no allowance);
  • 3-6 months, depending on the candidate's needs and preparation;
  • Canteen;
  • Support for the search for accommodation at the affiliated structures.

The internship may be useful to complete the master's thesis.

All interested parties are requested to fill in the online form, clicking on "Apply online", and attach the required documents in Pdfs format:
  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • Cover letter.

Applications will be reviewed as they arrive. Preferred period: at the earliest possible.
