Internship Opportunity: Redesign and User Experience Evaluation of an Application for University Students

The MoDiS (Motivational Digital Systems) Research Unit, part of the Digital Society center, focuses on advanced techniques and methodologies to support motivation, engagement, and behavior change in users. MoDiS develops personalized digital systems using game-based and persuasive strategies, which are applied across domains such as education, sustainability, and well-being. The Digital Society center aims to address the key challenges of our digital future by conducting interdisciplinary research on integrative AI, intelligence at the edge, and socio-technical systems. The center actively collaborates with public institutions, companies, and universities to develop practical and impactful digital solutions.

Note: This project will be carried out in active collaboration with the University of L'Aquila

Planned Activities:
The intern will join a collaborative research team to lead the redesign of an application designed for university students across the following phases:
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis and initial user research to map ecosystem needs, pain points, and target user requirements.
  • Participate in all research and design phases of the application, translating insights into user flows and interactive prototypes.
  • Perform a final, comprehensive user experience (UX) evaluation of the developed application to assess usability, user satisfaction, and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the authorship of scientific papers.

Requirements
  • At least a Bachelor's degree (or near completion) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Psychology, HCI, Interaction Design, or related fields;
  • Good knowledge of User Research methodologies, stakeholder analysis, and UX/UI design principles;
  • Good knowledge of prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD);
  • Interest in user-centered design, educational tech, and digital systems for university environments;
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team in a research setting;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English (minimum B2 level).

Internship Information
  • Type: Curricular internship (no allowance).
  • Duration: 3 to 6 months, depending on the candidate's needs and experience.
  • Location: Remote, hybrid, or in-person at Povo (Trento, Italy).
  • Other benefits:

Additional Opportunities: This internship may be extended into a full research thesis for interested candidates.
