Analysis of User Tracking Data and Integration with User Research Findings

The MoDiS (MOtivational DIgital Systems) Research Unit, part of the Digital Society Center, focuses on advanced techniques and methodologies to support motivation, engagement, and behavior change in users. MoDiS develops personalized digital systems using game-based and persuasive strategies, applied in various domains such as education, sustainability, and well-being. The Digital Society Center aims to address the key challenges of our digital future by conducting interdisciplinary research on integrative AI, intelligence at the edge, and socio-technical systems. The center actively collaborates with public institutions, companies, and universities to develop practical and impactful digital solutions. 

Planned Activities 

MoDiS is offering an internship opportunity focused on the analysis of user tracking data (e.g., behavioral logs, interaction data) and its integration with user research data (e.g., motivation, engagement, survey responses). 

The intern will contribute to: 

  • Cleaning and analyzing user activity data collected through digital systems;
  • Supporting the design of user profiling models and validation of insights;
  • Collaborating on the writing of scientific papers in collaboration with other FBK research units. 
  • Exploring patterns related to user motivation, engagement, and behavior;
  • Integrating quantitative behavioral data with qualitative and survey-based research findings; 

This internship provides the chance to work in a multidisciplinary team and to actively participate in applied research that combines behavioral analytics with user-centered approaches.

Requirements 

  • At least a Bachelor's degree (or near completion) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related fields; 
  • Good data analysis skills and experience with Python; 
  • Interest in behavioral data, human-computer interaction, and user research;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English (minimum B2 level). 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a research setting; 

Internship Information 
 

  • Type: Curricular internship (no allowance); 
  • Duration: 3 to 6 months, depending on the candidate’s needs and experience;
  • Location: Remote, hybrid, or in-person at Povo (Trento, Italy).
